How Michigan Center for Regenerative  Medicine doubled their patient volume by tracking outcomes

“We know that in order for this field to be more legitimate in the eyes of
patients and also with governing bodies, we have to prove that what we do is effective — and the best way to do that is to track outcomes with data.”
- Dr. Thomas Nabity

Challenge

In a space filled with misnomer and confusion, the doctors at Michigan Center for Regenerative Medicine (McfRM) faced a critical challenge: how to put real science behind their regenerative medicine treatment outcomes. They aspired to create a defined treatment standard, backed by data and science, so they could optimize their outcomes according to proper patient selection, cellular composition, and dosage administration while comparing their outcomes against a global registry.

Solution

The clinic implemented DataBiologics’ patient-reported outcomes tracking system to gather data on treatment efficacy and patient satisfaction. The platform enabled them to:

  • Collect standardized data on pain scores, functional outcomes and adverse events.
  • Tailor outcomes according to individualized demographics, diagnosis, and cellular concentrations.
  • Measure their results against other providers within their clinic and against a global registry.

Results

Invaluable Insights
Measuring their outcomes scores against a global dataset gave them invaluable insights. For example, patients who received PRP for spine injuries reported an 88% reduction in pain with sustained improvements over time — these results were superior to those across the registry.

Optimized Dosing
By measuring the cellular concentration of their PRP, they were able to ensure their dosage met the latest research recommended dosage of over the 4 billion platelets per treatment, which contributed to their positive outcomes.

2x Patient Volume
McfRM doubled their practice volume within the first year of implementing DataBiologics. By utilizing data from patients treated in their practice, the doctors at McfRM were able to provide patients with data-informed consults and more personalized treatment expectations.

“Patients can tell when you're confident about what you're talking about. There’s a difference between saying ‘It might work’ versus ‘I’ve treated hundreds of patients like you, we track our outcomes using a registry, and I can tell you with confidence that 85% of people with your condition get results with our therapy.’”
